3 KEY IMPORTANCE OF A THERMOSTAT

The importance of a thermostat in modern day automobiles cannot be over emphasized.

A thermostat  might be small but it performs two very important functions in an automobile engine, these two functions which go hand in hand are bringing an automobile engine up to its standard operating temperature and as well regulating the temperature of  the engine subsequently.
The correlation of these two functions are the fact an automobile engine needs function effectively at certain temperature (80A OC - 85 A OC )  at this temperature the engine is able to operate optimally thus reducing wear and tear of moving parts and also improving fuel efficiency.

Aside these basic functions are three key reasons why the thermostat is so important to an automobile engine.

1.ENGINE DURABILITY: A thermostat can help prolong the life span of an engine simply because when the thermostat is removed it takes longer for the engine to attain its optimal working temperature which in some cases it never does, at his point if the engine does not attain that optimal temperature this could lead to wear and tear and also carbon build up within the engine ultimately resulting to premature damage of the engine.

2.DEEP POCKET: Now when i mean deep pocket this represents the financial implications of removing the thermostat. an engine needs to attain a certain temperature in order to operate optimally,(close loop) at this point fuel consumption is regulated to its barest minimum, if the thermostat is removed it takes forever for the engine to attain this said temperature level and as such fuel consumption remains at its high side.

3.OVERHEATING; Now this doesent necessarily means the thermostat has to be removed. a thermostat valve is built to open up at a certain temperature level, in order to allow the flow of coolant to the combustion chamber of the engine to decipate the heat being generated, a faulty thermostat would refuse to open up at this temperature level which can ultimately has one resultant effect, OVERHEATING.
