Sad Effects of Steam Washing Your Engine

Steam washing an engine.

I had some time in the past written an article on the sad effects of steam washing your engine when it was the order of the day (not to say it still isn't rampant ) but then it's still ideal to revisit it given the relatively high level of risk involved in it.

Yes, it's no news that car or automobile engines get messed up over time with oil stains dust, and even soil or muddy water all as a result of the condition of the roads and sometimes our driving pattern, some cars owners as a result of this cultivate the habit of steam washing their engines whenever they visit a car wash. this is not an advisable thing to do considering the fact that today,s cars fitted with a lot of electrics ( sensors and actuators and other electrical components ) are practically fragile and cannot withstand the pressure with which these pressure washers function.

In most cases when a car engine is being steam washed these handlers direct the nozzle of the pressure washer directly on sensitive parts of the engine which can easily be damaged without knowing it.

EFFECTS OF STEAM WASHING YOUR ENGINE

Steam washing an engineThe adverse effects of stream washing your engine cannot be quantified, yes it has its advantages if handled by a person who is well grounded in the act or better still a  professional car washer man who knows the exact pressure suitable for the different tasks.

The dire consequences of steam washing wrongly may include, damaged sensors, snapped, or outrightly damaged wires and connections, damage to the ECM ( brainbox) if exposed, and Water clogging up vents, all but a few to mention. all of these could lead to engine malfunction and ultimately a high cost of corrective maintenance.

The bottom line does not steam wash your car engine and if exactly you must be sure to visit an experienced car wash personnel or better still be on the ground to supervise proceedings.
