So much buzz about the current innovation to take center stage in the automotive world , THE ENGINE WITHOUT A CAMSHAFT, Am sure this concept is quite clear to automotive engineers and astute car geeks, but to the day to day DIY,S and ordinary laymen the question simply is how does it work? is it ever achievable? my purpose of writing this topic is simply to clarify this concept in simple terms .,


HOW DOES A CAMSHAFT WORK.
Internal combustion engines are simply built to inhale air and fuel mixture and exhale carbon monoxide in most cases to the atmosphere, very dangerous you may seem.

A Camshaft is simply that part of an internal combustion engine that facilitates this process, it is responsible for the systematic movements of the valves that facilitates combustion within an engine, this is simply to say that a camshaft dictates the the fuel intake and the exhaust emission of an internal combustion engine.




CONCEPT OF AN ENGINE WITHOUT CAMSHAFT.
Simply explaining the concept of an engine without a camshaft is quite basic but needs to be followed through for proper understanding, in an internal combustion engine the camshaft simply regulates the movement of the valves in order to maintain proper combustion,  quite simply centrifugal centripetal this valves are practically controlled by the egg shaped. inner parts of the crankshaft that determines how long or short the valves closes.
In the case of the engine without a crankshaft, the valves are built to electronically depress open and returns to the close position using a mechanical spring, all these would be achieved without the camshaft.

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES THIS BRINGS
The concept of having an engine without a camshaft though quite adsorb would greatly improve engine efficiency,with the omission of the cam shaft the engine becomes significantly smaller requiring no timing belt and other accessories associated with the camshaft,  theres  an estimate of an increased horsepower by 30% , additional torque by 30% , reduced fuel efficiency and a significantly reduced emission.

Its still not so clear if this sort of engine is the way forward technological but one thing is clear,with its  clear advantages compared to the internal combustion engine. this sort of engine has come to stay.
