Paying Attention to Your Tire

Little details they say could  make a lot of difference.

Our car tires are meant to be the only contact between our vehicles and the road surface and as such should always be in optimal shape, but many a times this very important component of our mechanical contraption(as an automobile would be referred to as in technological jargon) is often left in a very bad state which ultimately leads to severe loss of valuable life
and properties, this has led me to pop up this big question, HOW MUCH ATTENTION DO YOU PAY TO YOUR TIRES?

A tire is a device fitted in an automobile, and is responsible for providing traction between the automobile and the road surface, while also providing cushion that absorbs shock.

This little explanation  gives us a vivid view of the importance and basic functions of an automobile tire.

Paying attention to your tires requires strict adherence to the following practices.

1.AVOID OVER INFLATION- This is seen as the most common cause  of tire fatalities, over inflating a car tire can result to so many anomalies such as increase fuel consumption, poor handling, poor vehicle stability and poor breaking. in the light of all these factors vehicle manufacturers have taken it upon themselves to specify the exact amount of pressure which a particular vehicle tire is suppose to carry in order to prevent these occurrences.

CAR MAKE                 CAR MODEL                  YEAR                    FRONT (PSI)    REAR (PSI)
TOYOTA                       4RUNNER                    1985/1988                    26                     29
TOYOTA                       4 RUNNER                   1989/1995 2WD          29                     35
TOYOTA                       4 RUNNER                   1989/1995 4WD          26                     29
TOYOTA                       4 RUNNER                   1996/1999                   35                      35
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                       1983/1988                   30                      30
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                       1989/1991                   30                      30
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                       1989/1991 V6             32                      28
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                        1992                           29                      29
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                        1992                           32                      32
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                       1993/1997                   32                      35
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                        1998/2000                  30                      30
TOYOTA                        CAMRY                       1998/2000V6              32                      32

The table above shows some Toyota car models their year and the exact tire pressure recommended for optimal operation of these vehicles.

2 PREVENT UNDERINLATION.- Under inflating a car tire just means one thing, reduced traction which in turn could lead to other consequences, a car is designed to maintain adequate contact(traction) to the road surface for optimal performance in a situation where this fails to occur largely due to tire under inflation dire consequences such as poor fuel management would surely suffice.

3.REGULAR TIRE ROTATION- Regularly rotating your car tires prolongs their life span  by preventing wear and tear, this ensures that your tires are in proper state at all times through out its life span.

4.BE WARY OF TIRE EXPIRE DATE- To most ignorant motorists the thoughts of  an expired tire still is too difficult to comprehend no matter how new the tire might look, but in actual sense tires do expire, in determining this the tire manufacture date needs to be taken account of  these dates are usually inscribed on the right wall of the tire for example seeing four digits like this 4107 simply means that the tire was manufactured on the 41st week of 2007, at this point regardless of how the said tire would look it is seen as expired and technically unfit to ply the roads,
This alone accounts for 50% of tire related accidents experienced on our roads.

The importance of having good and fit sets of tires at all times cannot be underestimated, as this can only signal the beginning of  safety practices on our roads.
