What does PHEV stand for

PHEV is an acronym or word not so commonly used in the automotive world but in an actual sense holds much relevance or importance, I have seen or heard people ask the question   What does PHEV stand for?  the fact that this phrase pops up here and there is a testimony that truly the meaning of such phrase isn't so popular out there so in this post we, 'll expose you to the phrase PHEV and what it exactly stands for in its true meaning.

Have you ever heard of the term hybrid vehicles? yes, of course, this phrase is quite synonymous with most automotive enthusiasts but how about PHEV?

Well PHEV simply stands for Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle. this is a relatively new concept in the automobile world it merely involves a fusion of three concepts which include an internal combustion engine either powered by gasoline or diesel, an electric motor, and also a big enough rechargeable battery installed to power the inbuilt electric motor.

The Plug-in Hybrid concept in contrast to the usual hybrid is built to drive for a much longer distance on battery power and as such could be easily recharged by plugging into an out outlet. pure hybrid vehicles built to run on electric power solely for backup reasons do not have these capabilities.

The concept of the PHEV (plug-in hybrid vehicle) is gradually becoming an accepted phenomenon in the car industry with Japanese auto giant Mitsubishi making its mark early enough with the Outlander, see photos of the 2017 version below.
